QANTAS has revealed a 66 per cent profit slump as some of Australia's biggest names feel the heat of the global economic crisis.
The flying kangaroo's first-half profit nosedived as fuel and labour costs hit its bottom line.
Earlier today miner BHP Billiton said its profit had dropped by 57 per cent.
Meanwhile, retailer David Jones said first-half sales fell 6.5 per cent on the comparable period last year.
Qantas said net profit for the six months to December 31, 2008, fell to $210 million from $618 million in the comparable period the year before
